Prepare for a meeting.
Create a neat folder that might contain: CPNZ brochures, Newsletters, information about your patrol, what patrolling is about and what patrollers do. We have justification sheet available that you might help you. Offer the folder to your sponsor after you have spoken.
Dress either in uniform or smart casual when you meet. Do not add anyone to the meeting without first letting your sponsor know. Be on time or slightly early. You will assess the tone of the meeting, but generally remain professional, open and friendly. As best you can, follow the tone set by your sponsor. Do not use derogatory or rude language, even if you are being presented with it.
Think of your request for assistance or sponsorship as being affordable by your sponsor.
Make it clear just how helpful the sponsorship will be to the local community and the patrol.
